City of Carson

Meet Your Elected Officials
Congresswoman Laura Richardson
(562) 436-3828 Washington, DC
100 W. Broadway 202-225-7924
West Tower, Suite 600 Fax: 202-225-7926
Long Beach, CA 90802 2233 Rayburn House Office Bldg
Washington, DC 20515
In 2007, Richardson succeeded 16 candidates in a special election and was elected to her first term in the House of Representatives to represent California's culturally and economically diverse 37th Congressional District setting a record of distinction in having served all three levels of government; local, state and federal all in the span of ¬less than a year.
Since being elected to serve in the House of Representatives Richardson was assigned to serve on the influential Committee on Science and Technology. Laura Richardson intends to focus on lobbying for the United States to withdraw from Iraq, Homeland Security, expanding access to health care services, and increasing funding for HIV / AIDS programs. Speaker Pelosi has referred to Representative Richardson as bright, energetic, intelligent, and an asset to the committee chairs, caucuses and her constituents.

Some of Mayor Dear’s accomplishments include the creation of the Women’s Issues Commission and his leadership with the Ethics Task Force. Mayor Dear was successful in creating the Carson Code of Ethics and the lobbyist registration requirement. Through his leadership of the Public Safety Task Force, he successfully created the Carson Sheriff’s Park Enforcement Team and brought forward into reality the Volunteers on Patrol Program with the Carson Sheriff’s Station. A champion for civil rights, Mayor Dear has earned the reputation as an aggressive policy maker who takes difficult issues and gets results for Carson residents. He has worked hard to promote economic development and at the same time increase the quality of life for Carson residents.

Making a difference in people’s lives is a strong passion for this young politician who is also a former youth pastor at the One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism Christian Church under the leadership of Bishop William Todd Ervin Sr. Mike believes that he is born to serve, and attributes all his accomplishments to his strong spiritual foundation, the dedication to give back to his community, and to the values instilled in him by his labor activist parents, neighbors and friends in Carson.
